Brake Disc Skimming

JB Rawcliffe and Sons are now able to offer as part of our vehicle maintenance and servicing department brake disc skimming for heavy goods vehicles.

The sophisticated brake lathe delivers precision resurfacing on brake discs suffering from cracks, corrosion or other abnormalities.

The brake lathe works on drilled, grooved and solid brake discs. It resurfaces brake discs removing corrosion, disc thickness variation and any alien surface material restoring the disc to original factory performance. The pictures below shows the same disc before and after the corrosion is removed.

Advantages of skimming are:

Laser Wheel Alignment

We are also able to offer a laser wheel alignment system. The system we use is accurate, fast and easy meaning no long drawn-out or complicated affair.

WHEEL ALIGNMENT SAVES FUEL & PREMATURE TYRE WEAR

Laser - sharp – Laser - fast
The measuring head is placed on the rim by means of powerful magnetic feet (with additional grab arms for aluminium rims) and the measurement can begin immediately. The system allows for the measurement of front toe, individual toe, camber toe out on turns, turning radius, castor, kingpin inclination angle, angular tilt of axles thrust angle and axle offset.

Unique & Precise
A problem area for the traditional wheel alignment machines is trucks and buses with twin steering axles. Our wheel alignment system, equipped with two additional turning plates makes it possible to quickly measure and adjust the twin steering axles one after the other.

Versatile & Adaptable
The system can align light trucks, heavy trucks, buses, tractors, farm tractors, cranes, earth moving vehicles and more. Truck manufacturers have traditionally insisted that wheels were aligned to the chassis. However, this trend is now changing and some manufacturers are now insisting that the wheels and axles be aligned to each other, disregarding the chassis. Our system offers the choice between measuring from axle to axle or from the axle to the chassis.
